Material, size & bespoke

We carry gold in 585 (14 ct) and 916 (22 ct), and other alloys on request. We adjust ring sizes and craft bespoke pieces to your wishes. Find the right size with our guide.

Settings and what they mean in wear

The setting decides both look and everyday practicality. A claw setting holds the stone with fine prongs and lets in plenty of light; it looks airy but can catch on wool. A bezel setting encloses the stone in a metal rim – robust and ideal for hands-on work and care professions. Channel and pavé settings sit small stones flush in the band and cope well with daily wear.

Materials and alloys

585 yellow gold is the everyday classic: hard enough for daily wear, warm in tone. 916 (22 carat) gives the rich yellow valued in Turkish tradition, but it is softer and less suited to slim bands with stones. White gold is rhodium plated and needs refreshing after a few years; red gold takes its tone from a higher copper content. More in our guide to gold colours.

Fit, size and care

Measure your ring size in the evening at normal temperature – fingers are slimmer in the morning and in the cold. Wide rings sit tighter than narrow ones, so half a size up is often right. Our ring size guide includes a true-to-scale template to print. Take stone-set rings off before sport, gardening and cleaning; for care, lukewarm water, a little washing-up liquid and a soft brush are usually enough.
