Determining the correct ring size

Ring sizes follow different systems depending on the country. What's reliable everywhere is the inner circumference measured in millimetres. In German-speaking countries the size matches this circumference exactly (size 54 = 54 mm inner circumference); the UK uses letters, the USA its own number scale. So just measure in millimetres – we'll work out the right size.

Measure an existing ring

On a ring that fits well, measure the inner diameter with a ruler and multiply it by 3.14 – that gives the inner circumference in millimetres (a 17.2 mm diameter ≈ 54 mm circumference). In German-speaking countries this circumference is also the ring size.

Measure your finger

Wrap a narrow strip of paper or a thread around your finger, mark where it overlaps and measure the length in millimetres. This circumference in millimetres is the basis for your ring size.

For an accurate result

Measure in the evening with warm hands – fingers are slimmer in the morning and in the cold. The ring should pass over the knuckle but not slip off on its own. Between two sizes, choose the larger; for wide rings, go one size up.

Ring size chart

Read the inner circumference in mm – this is also the German/EU size; the Turkish size (TR) is the circumference minus 40. Typical women’s sizes are 50–54 (often 54), men’s 58–64 (often 62).
