Determining the correct bangle size

As with rings, bangles come in different size labels depending on the country and maker. What's reliable everywhere is the inner diameter in millimetres. Measure that – we'll match the right size.

First determine the type

The distinction matters: a rigid bangle (Turkish Bilezik) is slipped over the hand – here the hand circumference counts. A flexible bracelet with a clasp, on the other hand, is based on the wrist circumference.

Measuring a rigid bangle (Bilezik)

Bring your thumb and little finger together as if slipping the bangle on. Measure the circumference of your hand at its widest point in millimetres and divide by 3.14 – that gives the required inner diameter. Example: 190 mm circumference ≈ 60 mm inner diameter. When in doubt, choose the next larger value.

Hand circumference U ÷ 3.14 (π) = required inner diameter. The Turkish size (boy) is this inner diameter in cm.

Measuring a flexible bracelet

Place a tape measure directly around the wrist. For a comfortable fit, add about 1 to 2 cm; a little more for wide links or several pieces worn together.

The Turkish bangle size (boy) equals the inner diameter in centimetres (boy 6.5 = 65 mm ⌀). Typical women’s sizes are 6.0–6.7 (often 6.5).

Inner circumference = inner diameter × π. A rigid bangle must pass over the widest part of the hand; if unsure, choose the next larger size – we measure most accurately in store.
